About the artist

An Introduction

My name is Colin Amicon, currently releasing under szwitch. My primary software environment is Ableton Live, which I integrate with Ableton Push and a variety of live instruments, including the Les Paul electric guitar, keyboard, and bass.

For Listeners

Engaging with my body of work provides insight into a scientific mindset applied to musical creation. Listeners can expect:

  • Cross-Genre Structures: Integration of thematic elements from rock, metal, classical, and EDM traditions.
  • Unique Instrumental Hybridization: Systematic experiments in combining analog instruments (e.g., guitar, bass) with advanced digital sound design.
  • Refined Aesthetics: A focus on cohesive sonic spaces, leveraging both amplitude envelopes and advanced mixing protocols.
  • Continual Evolution: An iterative process that evolves with each release, incorporating listener feedback and new technological developments.

Current Project: “Currents”

My latest single, “Currents”, marks a milestone in my creative journey. Although originally composed several years ago, the track has been refined through iterative and production processes. Its release on Spotify provides an opportunity to observe the outcome of years of refinement.

Extended Research and Discussion

Along with releasing new material, I have also started a YouTube channel to discuss the intersection of music production and software engineering. My objective is to discuss both theory and engineering practices related to both. Topics of discussion may include:

  • Digital Signal Processing: Practical techniques for integrating live audio sources with plugin-based effects.
  • Software Engineering in Music: Approaches to coding and automation that optimize production efficiency.
  • Conceptual Frameworks: How theoretical constructs from acoustics, psychoacoustics, and music theory inform my composition strategies.

Looking Ahead
